In the reading room

We have discovered that one of Danica's favorite rooms is the bathroom. Specifically the bathroom in our bedroom. If ever you can't find her, odds are that's where she will be. She sits down on the floor and looks through audio/video magizines that are in there. She even closes the door behind her for "privacy".

And then when you open the door she looks up at you like this.
Now who could resist this face? I do have to say I think she has one of the cutest smiles!

Oregon Coast Aquarium

One of the things that we did when my mom and dad were here was go to the aquarium. Dancia had never been there. We were saving it for when she was a little older and could appreciate it a little more. She had a blast and did suprisingly well considering it was nap time and she didn't get to have one.

You can't really tell what this is in this picture but Danica and I are standing behind the jaws of some mega-shark.
Danica was amazingly brave at the touch tank. She was getting really tired by this time but she didn't hesitate to touch the starfish. I figured she wouldn't want to stick her hand in the water at all. She didn't want to touch the anenomes (yes I know that is probably spelled wrong!). They were farther into the tank and she didn't like having to hang over so much.
There are three different tunnels that you walk through and they have different fich and sharks and rays in them. Danica thought that it was very cool to see all the fish. There was also divers in the tanks while we were there which I thought was neat!
She liked seeing the fish swim under her feet!
Looking up at a big shark overhead with Daddy. They had one shark that looked to be about 7 feet. Of course you are looking into water through curved plastic. So good chance of some distortion.
Just a neat picture. It was pretty dark in the tube so really good pictures are almost impossible.
I love jellyfish. I just think that they are so neat. They have several different tanks of them with a good variety of different types of jellies. By far my favorite thing at the aquarium.
While in the gift shop, Danica (who is by now very tired and in need of nap) saw a plush turtle that she just had to have. It is very soft and I don't think that she put it down for the first 4 days she had it. "Turtle" has become the current favorite.Fortunately it's not too big.

Beach time!

While my folks were out of course we had to spend some time at the beach! One of the things that we did was go to the kite festival at Lincoln City. The kites were amazing! The giant octopus kite were between 90 and 120 feet! There were 10 up by the time that we left. They had to wait for low tide before attempting to get the planned 20 in the air.

Of course we spent some time just looking at the ocean. I think that if he could my dad would just sit in a chair on the beach all day listening to the sounds.
Danica was such a trooper on the beach. She would trudge along for a long while and and then want to be carried. But she didn't want to be carried for long. She wanted to get right back down in the sand. I don't think she ever really tried to play in it though.

Great- great Aunt Martha

While my mom and dad were here we had to make the trip to see Aunt Martha in Portland. Danica met Martha when she was just about a week and a half old. So everytime that Mom and Dad come out we go and see her and let her see how Danica has grown.
Of course by the time that we were taking pictures, Danica had decided that she was done so getting her to sit still was a challenge. Plus I had brought along the small camera which can get blurry pictures pretty easily due to movement. So not many good pictures to choose from. But good enough! Danica did give Aunt Martha a hug. And went around giving everyone high fives as well!

Visitors!

Just a quick clip of Danica telling me who came to visit her!

Here kitty kitty

Danica loves cats. And I mean loves. Our neighbors have a small black cat named Bravo that is the most laid back cat I have ever seen. She had kittens a couple of months ago and I wish I had pictures of Danica chasing them around! Bravo came over to play one afternoon.

Danica just had to give the kitty loves!
And then pick her up
And then carry her around. And squeeze her and love on her some more.
Bravo does have all of her claws but has never even tried to scratch Danica. She just hangs there when Dani is holding her. You can hold her upside down (which Danica has) and she doesn't even squirm! Weird cat. And NO we don't need to get Danica one of her own!

Bubbles!

There is very little that will put Danica in a better mood than bubbles! She can be entertained by them for a loooong time. I have discovered that blowing bubbles can be very therapeutic. You definitely can't do it when you are mad or upset about something because it just doesn't work when you blow too hard! The bubble we used this particular day were ones from Gymboree. They are a gel based bubble that doesn't get your carpet all soapy but does give Danica that appearance of dandriff when all is said and done. They also blow a ton of bubbles that last forever and have awesome "hang" time.

She is such a ham with the camera! She has been tilting her head to the side and giving cheesy grins and after you take the picture she has to see it. She will then go back and pose for another.
She reaches so high on her tiptoes trying to reach the bubbles. This is her trying to poke each bubble very carefully. At one point she was popping them between her two pointer fingers. Very good hand-eye coordination. Of course I had already put the camera away before she did that.
She loves to step on the bubbles. Big time foot stomping going on until they are all popped.
Bubbles!!!
